Frequently Asked Questions

What is Rush?

Rush is our recruitment period where we get to know potential new members. It's a chance for you to learn about Kappa Sigma, meet our brothers, and see if our fraternity is the right fit for you. We host various events throughout the week to showcase our brotherhood, values, and community.

When does Rush happen?

Rush typically occurs during the first few weeks of each semester. For Spring 2026, rush events are happening now through February 8th. Check our schedule above for specific event times and locations.

Do I need to attend all rush events?

While we encourage you to attend as many events as possible, it's not required to attend every single one. We understand you have other commitments. Focus on attending the events that interest you most and allow you to get to know our brothers better.

What should I wear to rush events?

Dress code varies by event. For casual events like game nights or BBQs, casual attire is fine. For more formal events, business casual is appropriate. When in doubt, feel free to ask our rush chairs or brothers at the event.

What makes Kappa Sigma different from other fraternities?

Kappa Sigma is built on four pillars: Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. We're committed to developing well-rounded individuals who excel academically, contribute to their communities, and form lifelong friendships. Our brotherhood emphasizes personal growth, professional development, and giving back to society.

What are the academic requirements?

We maintain high academic standards and expect our members to prioritize their studies. While specific GPA requirements may vary, we look for individuals who are committed to academic excellence and personal growth. We also provide academic support and resources to help our brothers succeed.

How much does membership cost?

Membership costs vary and include dues, housing fees (if applicable), and other activities. We're committed to transparency about all costs and offer payment plans and financial assistance when needed. Contact our rush chairs for detailed information about current membership costs.

What if I have more questions?

Don't hesitate to reach out! You can contact our rush chairs at ks-rushchairs@mit.edu, use the contact form above, or talk to any of our brothers during rush events. We're here to help and answer any questions you might have.
